June - Prepare the Yard for Summer Fun Summer is officially here, and if you're like most of our neighbors in the Green Bay area, your calendar is starting to fill up with backyard cookouts, graduation parties, and long evenings on the patio. Before the next get-together, here's our mid-June checklist to make sure your outdoor space is ready to show off.

If your lawn isn't looking as thick and green as you'd like heading into the heart of summer, our weed and feed programs are built to get it there — and keep it there.

By mid-June, your lawn has been through a full spring growth spurt — and the Wisconsin summer heat is just getting started. Here are a few things to watch for:

Give Your Lawn a Mid-Season Check-In

Mowing height matters. Cutting your grass a little taller (around 3 to 3.5 inches) helps it hold moisture and shade out weeds as temperatures climb.
Water deep, not often. One or two deep waterings a week beats a daily light sprinkle — it encourages stronger, deeper roots that can handle a dry stretch.
Watch for late-season weeds. If crabgrass or clover started creeping in after your spring treatment, now's a good time for a touch-up application before it gets out of hand.
Mosquitoes are waking up. With more time spent outside, this is also when pest pressure ramps up. A preventative treatment now goes a long way toward making your yard enjoyable again.
